Advanced Cleanings
Manage and prevent periodontal disease.
Our hygienists and periodontists are well-versed in managing periodontal disease. Many patients may benefit from non-surgical treatment of periodontal disease by undergoing a “deep cleaning,” which is also referred to as scaling and root planing. Once scaling and root planing has been completed, your periodontist will determine whether periodontal surgery is necessary in order to treat any deep pockets that have not resolved with non-surgical therapy. After periodontal therapy is complete, it is common for your doctor to recommend that you have periodontal maintenance cleanings every three months. Research has shown that patients are able to properly manage their periodontal disease when they have regular maintenance cleanings. Periodontal maintenance also helps prevent relapse of periodontal disease.
